  ASBURY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

Ministries

We believe that all of us are gifted by God to serve Christ and the world.  Asbury offers many ways for you to get involved in serving.  Check out some of them below.

Music Ministry – Music is integral to the life of Asbury Church.  Our praise team helps lead us into worship.  They are a team of gifted folks who serve through the ministry of music.  We have a band and a group of vocalists.  If you are interested in learning more about the Asbury Praise Team or about how you can offer your gifts of music, please contact our worship leader, Kelly Holder:  email kelly@asburypetal.org.

Worship Arts -- We try to combine the best of ancient worship arts (visuals, drama, dance, movement) with the best of modern technology to enrich and deepen our worship experience at Asbury.   Volunteers from our worship community bake bread for our Communion meal.  Volunteers also set the Table for Communion and prepare our worship space.  We have a worship task group that meets regularly to pray and plan together.  If you are interested, please contact Jason Harms:  email jason@asburypetal.org.

Media Ministry -- Do computers and technology ignite a passion in you?  Do you like working on creative projects such as multimedia and video editing with computers?  Ever considered using those gifts in the Church?  Asbury has a place for you.  Contact Jason Harms:  email jason@asburypetal.org.

Lighthouse Mission Center – the Lighthouse Center is an outreach of Asbury Church,   located at 314 South George Street in Petal, that offers food and clothing assistance to those in need.  Staffed entirely by volunteers, the Lighthouse is open on Wednesday and Saturday mornings from 9:00 to 11:00.   The food distributed to our clients is donated by members of Asbury Church and others around the Petal and Hattiesburg community.  If you would like to make a food donation, you may drop off non-perishable food items at the Lighthouse during their normal operating hours or bring it to Asbury Church at 1331 Hwy 42 in Petal.  You may also make a monetary gift here (put link to paypal here).  If you are willing to serve at the Lighthouse, sorting and folding clothes, greeting and serving clients, please contact Kristin Pratt at  email:  kristin@asburypetal.org or 601.545.3006.
